AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

Saniderm:

Leave bandage on for 3-5 days. The bandage may have a small amount of fluid build up, as long as the bandage is sealed, this is normal. If the skin appears irritated, there is excessive fluid buildup, fluid is leaking from the bandage, or the bandage is coming off/ the tattoo is exposed, it’s okay to remove the bandage sooner rather than later.

Removing Saniderm:

Find an edge of the bandage and pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth. The shower is the ideal place to remove Saniderm. Running water will help loosen the adhesive and relax the skin, making the removal much more comfortable. Dry removal of Saniderm may cause discomfort and added trauma to the skin.

Do not reapply any more bandages after the scabbing/flaking phase of tattoo healing has begun. If you find yourself bandage-less during this phase, make sure you’re keeping the area thoroughly moisturized.

If there is adhesive residue leftover on the skin, or the adhesive is not loosening enough with water, coconut oil and baby oil are helpful for removal.

Without/After Saniderm:

-Wash daily with unscented antibacterial soap (I recommend Dial Gold) Do not use any abrasive scrubs or loofas

-Pat dry with a clean towel or air dry

-24 hours after receiving your tattoo (or once Saniderm has been removed) apply a thin layer of unscented lotion to keep tattoo moisturized.

(I do not recommend using petroleum-based ointments, they can suffocate the pores; the skin may develop rashes, or hair follicles may become irritated/inflamed)

-Be sure not to swim, soak, or expose too much sun to your new tattoo.

-No picking or scratching your tattoo, it will go through changes and most likely peel, do not assist this process.  No loofas, scrubs, or exfoliators.

-Maintain the after care routine for the full 2 weeks or until the peeling has subsided.

-When your tattoo is completely healed please continue to use an SPF 50 or higher when spending a lot of time in the sun. This can help keep your tattoo looking brighter, longer.

As always, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.
